As a designer, staying up-to-date with current trends and new tricks is how you stay out in front of the curve. Learning the basics is essential, but developing specialized skills within Graphic Design define who you are as a designer. To push my own capabilities, I have been leveraging more of the Adobe products to create more diversity in my work. This project showcases the animation techniques l have been developing. I have created all of the assets using Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects.

Sony Email Motion

I generally work on Sony emails that revolve around product highlights. This task asked for an email featuring a strong HERO that encourages clickthrough rate. So I worked on several GIFs that draws the viewers’ eyes across the screen, and further into the email.

Sony Motion Graphics

These GIFs were created based off of still graphics that have been used throughout the Sony ALPHA campaign. As an attempt to implement their graphics into innovative product emails, I was tasked with finding a way to bring the existing resources to life. The animation above was recreated as a whole from scratch*. Then, leveraging After Effects and Adobe Illustrator, I was able to take the digital assets and apply movements.

*Everything was recreated besides the product photography and the logo

This Banner GIF was created based off of the website's Home Page background. Readjusting the composition and adding the cloud movement on top of the image took a static image and created more room for engagement within an email. Without straying from the brand look and style, this was just another example of how we could push the existing resources even more into engaging viewers through different outlets, without using the same exact assets as-is and tiring them out.

Bank of America Email Motion

Working with BofA, a lot of their emails correlate with seasons and quarterly updates. These animations were illustrated by a fellow designer who then had me animate the concepts.

The concepts correlate with holidays such as the 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, and Tax Season. Each one differs slightly to highlight the corresponding season and/or holiday, but they all remain branded and fluent.

To maximize the visual fluidity, the GIFs were made to seamlessly loop.
